PACE Organizations were concerned with a burdensome Service Determination Request (SDR) process potentially delaying provision of a requested service to a participant. As a result, the Immediate Approval process was added to regulatory language.
In order to be considered an Immediately Approved service, the following must be true:
- The request must be fully (no partials) approved by an IDT member when the request is made
- Notification of the approval must be made in the moment/during the same encounter
Pro Tip* If you must ask another IDT member for permission to approve the requested service, then it is not considered an immediate approval, and must be processed as a normal SDR.
